Independent Study: Comic Book

This course explores the use of visual storytelling in a form of image, text, and sequence- all in the service of message, concept, and narrative. The class is delivered through a mixture of practice and theory-based learning; this will include individual tutorials, self-directed study and research, and homework assignments. 

ART 203 - 01 

Graphic Design 1

This course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of letterforms and typography as they apply to graphics and visual communications. Projects will cover principles of typography, letterforms, typographic layout, legibility, expressive and dynamic typography. Each topic will be covered through lectures, demonstrations, critiques, and individual studios.

ART 329 - 01 

Graphic Design 2

This course is designed to introduce students to the key concepts and practices of contemporary graphic design. Students will continue the exploration of typography-based design begun in Graphic Design I, as they begin to focus on organizing two-dimensional space conceptually and effectively with color and imagery. 

ART 231 - 01 

Digital Art for Non-Art Majors

This course is for students who wish to explore art and computers but are not majoring in Visual Arts. Students will learn to create art using digital technology. Creative problem solving, art-making processes, understanding terminology, historical precedent, and contemporary digital practice will be explored.

Graphic Design 1

Creating Information Graphics

From research to rendering, students will learn how to interpret and visualize information to create graphics such as charts, maps, guides, instruction tables, and illustrated diagrams. The student will use the principles and processes of design to represent very complicated data into a visually well-organized graphic design.

ART 231 - 02

Package Design

This course provides an introduction to package design with an emphasis on the practices of the current industry. Students will develop the design skills necessary to create a distinctive and appealing brand identity for the retail marketplace. This includes learning to design from the perspectives of aesthetics, marketing, manufacturing processes, sustainability, and utility.
